It's become common in today's society for a girl as young as 16 to undergo some sort of cosmetic surgery, whether a nose job or laser hair removal. It strikes me as odd why such beautiful women want to permanently alter their bodies to fit the status quo. Sure, these people will think that silicon and perfectly hairless bodies are attractive now, but what will they think of their bodies 30 years from now? There is always a risk of problems due to cosmetic surgery, but this concept is shoved out the door.
An average woman may not finish growing until age 25. It is just not right for a woman to forever change her body before giving it a chance to fully blossom. I have only one thing to say to any young woman who is thinking about, or has gone through cosmetic surgery: Have you ever heard of "mind over matter"?
It encouraged me to read about some students who attend North Dallas' Yavneh Academy. The students organized a three-on-three basketball tournament to raise money to support victims of terrorism. It really stood out from the other articles I've seen in the paper because it was about teenagers having a positive impact in their community and around the world, not about teenagers selling drugs, getting sent to jail or illegally taking steroids.
Growing up in a world where teens are having an increasingly negative impact in their communities, reading an article about some teens having a positive impact is very inspiring. These students are my age and live in the same area as me, yet they are having an impact around the globe. I realized that I, too, can impact those around me and perhaps even in foreign countries.
Thank you, students at North Dallas' Yavneh Academy who are involved in Students Against Terrorism. Your hard work and dedication to raise money for hurting Israelis has inspired me to find a way to help those in need. I hope that it will ignite a fire in others as well.
