(WCCO) Edina, Minn. For those looking for washboard stomachs for swimsuit season, there may be a couple of new high-tech shortcuts that don't involve thousands of sit-ups.

Lisa Jansen has a figure many women would envy, but if she could have a younger looking tummy without endless abdominal exercises, she is all for it.

"It actually has a suction that sucks the skin up into the device and there's two metal electrodes on either side and then those activate and that heats up the tissue in between it," said Dr. Brian Zelickson, with the Center for Cosmetic Care.

Both of the devices have FDA clearance, though they were designed for other cosmetic purposes, such as people wanting to reduce fine lines on the face without surgery.

Zelickson said by no means could the devices do the work of liposuction and a tummy tuck, but for patients like Jansen and Klohn, results are often quite noticeable.
