"The 39th Annual Country Music Association Awards" (8 p.m., WWJ-TV, Channel 62, CBS). Down home in the Big Apple. For the first time, the CMAs leave Nashville for New York City and three hours of live honor roll honky tonkin'. A star-powered lineup pumps up the country music fun at Madison Square Garden.

"Gilmore Girls" (8 p.m., WDWB-TV, Channel 20, WB). Revelation station. Rory (Alexis Bledel) finally awakens from her slacker coma, gets a life and moves out of her grandparents' cozy manse. It's about time! Meanwhile, Luke (Scott Patterson) is beaned by a DNA curveball at a school science fair. Pssst, Lorelai -- Luke's got a shocking secret.

"Commander in Chief" (9 p.m., WXYZ-TV, Channel 7, ABC). Hail to the new chief. That would be Emmy Award-winning executive producer Steven Bochco ("NYPD Blue"), recently brought in to take over ABC's hot new political drama after series creator Rod Lurie ("The Contender") got tangled up in production delays. Tonight's the first Bochco episode as First Gentleman Rod Calloway (Kyle Secor) settles into his new West Wing life as a strategic planning adviser to his presidential wife (Geena Davis). White House chief of staff Jim Gardner (Harry Lennix) is not exactly jumping for joy.

"Rome" (9 p.m., HBO). Gladiator blood drive. Sentenced to die in the arena, Pullo (Ray Stevenson) instead insists that Rome's most ferocious gladiators donate a few gallons of their own claret. He unleashes the sort of furious, sword-whacking assault that falls somewhere on the brutality scale between Russell Crowe in "Gladiator" and "Monty Python and the Holy Grail." Holy corpuscle overload!

"The Office" (9:30 p.m., WDIV-TV, Channel 4, NBC). Dawn of the dread. It's the most anxiety-addled day of the year as the employees of Dunder Mifflin prepare to endure annual performance reviews. And the office dork spotlight falls on dithering Dwight (Rainn Wilson), who's living for the weekend because he thinks it's Friday. Wrong, Dwight, it's only Thursday. D'oh!

"Nip/Tuck" (10 p.m., FX). Dr. Feelgood, I presume. Having transformed homely Mafia princess Nikki (Anne Heche) into a cute little piece of cannoli with his cosmetic surgery skills, love-struck Sean (Dylan Walsh) just can't stand the thought of losing her to the Witness Protection Program.

"Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" (10 p.m., WDIV-TV, Channel 4, NBC). Dean Cain, who used to play handsome, wholesome Superman on "Lois & Clark," really goes over to the guest star dark side as a serial rapist suspect who targets victims through a speed dating service. Detective Benson (Mariska Hargitay) goes undercover to track the "SVU" evil weasel du jour.

"Jimmy Kimmel Live" (12:05 a.m., WXYZ-TV, Channel 4, NBC). Soul diva deluxe. Strange but true, Destiny's Child chose Jimmy Kimmel's late night chat carnival for their farewell performance. Beyonce Knowles, Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams are Jimmy's only guests.
