So, we showed these pictures to plastic surgeons, aesthetic, cosmetic surgeons and naturo-facial surgeons in the city and asked them to comment. Although some doctors declined to comment out of fear of the gangster, some of them seemed to think he had undergone some surgery.

One of the doctors, however, said, the pictures were not sufficient to give conclusive comments. ?To decipher if Salem has undergone surgery we need to have different angles of the face,? said a doctor from a well-known suburban hospital.

?Under normal circumstances we need at least a frontal, oblique, lateral and coronal view of the face structure. Whenever a patient wants to alter his face structure we call for such pictures to decide on the angle elevation and contours of the face," said another surgeon from a government run hospital.

A plastic surgeon from a city hospital said the pictures suggested some changes to the face, the most obvious being alterations to the area around the nose.

?He has probably undergone rhinoplasty as the tip of the nose seems to be shortened. Something has probably been done on his nose bridge too as it looks broader now than what is seen in the earlier pictures,? he said.

?The pictures also suggest ginoplasty as the chin seems to be altered. Eversion (turning out) of the lower lip is also possible,? he added. The surgeon also felt that he has had a derm operation, to remove superficial scars and bat ear correction to push back the protruding ears.
