GERMAN TWP. - With a crowd of family, friends and supporters around her, the yearlong transformation of Stacy Browne of Uniontown became complete Friday night.
In the minutes prior to the reveal, a video played showing pictures from Browne's life and some footage of the time she spent in the dentist's chair and in the surgery suite since she was named the winner Nov. 12, 2004.
Since her selection, Browne received a complete makeover, which included dental implants, cosmetic surgery, Lasik eye surgery, a chemical peel, and a host of other prizes. The complete prize package totaled nearly $64,000, according to Carrie Lenardo, emcee for the event.
Lenardo said Browne endured a lot of pain from the procedures, which made the process difficult at times, but the end result has been worth the time.
Dr. Aurelio V. Cecchini Jr. of Cecchini & Cecchini dental office, which sponsored the event, said the vision of a makeover contest 18 months ago has finally become a reality.
Dr. Edward Halusic & Dr. David Bender of The Facial Surgery Center both said Browne was a model patient and said the new Stacy Browne looked terrific.
Dr. John Martinelli of Martinelli Eye Clinic & Laser Center said that the behind the scenes work in the past year required a time commitment from Browne, he said the results have been better than he could have imagined.
"What started out as a small idea chain reacted into something much bigger," he said. "This is just an example of the kind hearts that so many people have."
Browne's day began Friday morning when Penny Whoolery, marketing director for Cecchini & Cecchini, picked her up and took her to Bangz for her cut and color. She was then whisked to the Uniontown Mall, where her outfit for the evening was selected, and was then returned to Bangz for nail treatments, a facial and a makeup application.
To accompany the new look, Browne also received a gift bag that included diamond earrings, a number of gift certificates for overnight stays or meals at local restaurants, a $500 gift card to Uniontown Mall, and a host of other prizes, donated by a number of local businesses.
