A The latest revolutionary concept involvesproviding patients with fully functional teeth on dental implantsin a single procedure that lasts about an hour. I have partneredwith Dr. John Porter, an oral surgeon in Castleton, to provide thistechnology. The process starts with a CT scan of the patient'sjawbone. The scan provides a 3-D model of the jawbone, which canthen be used in virtual-reality software to plan the implantplacement and prosthesis.
After selection of the color and shape of teeth, aone-hour appointment is made with Dr. Porter where four to siximplants are placed under local anesthesia. The computer-guidedsurgery is done with no need for sutures. In less than an hour, thepatient has a full set of teeth permanently fixed to the implants. The teeth are functional and the patient is able to resume normalactivity the next day. This new technology is simply amazing.
A I take continuing education courses, almost 80hours a year. I'm involved in the Indianapolis Study Club, which is20-25 dentists from the northeast side. We meet once a month andhave speakers. Dental schools have programs and we go to nationalconventions.
