AS an expert on Sod's Law, it was only to be expected that I would have an appointment booked for a hot stone massage on the hottest day of the year.

It's cool in the trendy sense too, as the rich and famous have already made their way to the discreet doors since the clinic opened last November.

That is because Visage is unique in offering a whole host of beauty and health treatments in one state-ofthe- art building - and all at a reasonable cost.

You can choose between plastic surgery, cosmetic dentistry, clinical beauty treatments and lifestyle coaching, as well as the more usual skin care treatments.

For example, smokers coming in to have their teeth whitened may also opt for the lifestyle coaching to help them stop, plus some restylane to fill out the lines round their mouths. Visage are so confident about the quality of their services that they even offer consultations free of charge.

I wasn't disappointed. It was probably the most thorough and relaxing full body massage I've ever had and afterwards I felt as if I were walking on air.

Not only that, but although it was still very hot when I left Visage and people all around me were red-faced, sweaty and obviously feeling the heat, I felt as cool as a cucumber and stayed calm and relaxed all day before falling into bed for a great night's sleep.

With a background in aromatherapy and Reiki, clinical aesthetician Allison McKinnon developed the treatment over several years because she found combining the elements achieved a better energy balance.

After a long chat with her clients, she blends essential oils especially for them and then works on the energy points which are the same as those in Chinese acupuncture.

As it was such a hot day, she used cooling peppermint on me to begin with, then a mix of calming orange oil and juniper. The stones are used in the massage and, to prevent me becoming overheated, Allison used a mixture of hot and cold.
