Today, plastic surgery is one of the most searched medical specialties in nearly all country of the world, especially countries such as USA, UK or Brazil. Plastic surgery has gone beyond the boundaries of reconstruction surgery and it's now an essential weapon against aging, fulfilling aesthetical dreams and promoting personal enhancement for men and women throughout the world. The most common plastic surgery procedures are listed below:
- Breast Augmentation - the so called breast enlargement, or boob job. This
is by far the most common option of plastic surgery for women.
- Adbominoplasty - also known as tummy tuck. Refers to the reshaping and firming
of the abdomen.
- Liposuction - removing of the fat of the body.
- Rhinoplasty - Reshaping of the nose.
By definition, there are two types of plastic surgery: Reconstruction surgery
and cosmetic surgery, being the first a set of procedures to reshape parts of
the body that were damaged by some accident or disease. The later refers to
the alteration of some normal body part that functions normally but makes you
unhappy due to aesthetical reasons. If you're considering plastic surgery, be
aware that there are some few risks depending of the procedure you would need.
However, researches proved that plastic surgery may have a strong impact on
one's self-image and self esteem. In fact, it is also proved that people who
choose to undergo plastic surgery procedures have actually a positive self image,
even more than the ones who are not interested in plastic surgery. The most
important thing is to have realistic expectations.

Major Ambulatory Surgery
Ambulatory surgery is one of the most common categories of surgery in medicine, and also one of the most important, since ambulatory procedures are common and happen every day in any hospital. It may be defined as any surgical procedure which is relatively simple, not demanding the patient to spend the night in the medical institution. However, in countries where the public health system is unable to manage with the high number of patients that requires this type of procedure, especially when lacking the proper resources. In order to help with this situation, health authorities in several countries are trying to find a solution or at least a plan that may diminish this problem. One of the most successful projects comes from Spain, and it’s called Major ambulatory surgery system.
Cosmetic Surgery Nowadays
Cosmetic surgery is becoming more and more popular in several parts of the world, particularly in the USA and European countries such as the UK. Cosmetic surgery may be defined as the series of surgical and ambulatory procedures that aim to reshape or remold specific parts of the body. Differently from the reconstructive surgery that aims to remodel body parts that were altered by factors such as diseases or accidents, the cosmetic surgery deals with personal enhancement. Several procedures such as the so called tummy tuck, breast enlargement or rhinoplasty are becoming very popular, as it’s demonstrated by the 11,9 million of aesthetic procedures that were performed in USA alone in the year of 2004.
